Quickly create extra covered space on your site

We often see the same thing with customers: the warehouse is full, materials are stored outside, or a project suddenly needs more space than planned. Extra covered space is needed, but building a permanent hall is often too slow, too expensive or simply not necessary.

With an industrial shelter, you can quickly turn your outdoor area into usable work or storage space. A Kroftman container shelter can be installed on containers or concrete. This turns available outdoor space into a practical covered area for storage, maintenance, processing or protection of materials and equipment.

What is an industrial shelter?

An industrial shelter is a strong covered structure for professional use on a company site. It helps you use outdoor space more effectively and protect materials, machines, vehicles or work areas from rain, wind, snow and sun.

At Kroftman, the shelter consists of a galvanized steel structure with a PVC or HDPE cover, depending on the application. The structure is suitable for installation on shipping containers or concrete. With the shelter, you receive the Buildbook free of charge, including technical calculations and drawings, so the solution can be professionally assessed.

When is an industrial shelter useful?

For many companies, the need for a shelter does not start with the idea of building something. It starts with a practical problem on site.

For example, when:

  • the existing warehouse is full

  • materials are stored outside and get wet

  • a project temporarily requires more space

  • machines, parts or vehicles need protection

  • maintenance or assembly takes place outside

  • loading, unloading or transshipment depends too much on the weather

  • building a new hall or using external storage is not a logical solution

In these situations, an industrial shelter helps create more usable space on your own site, quickly.

Key benefits

  • Quickly create extra covered space on your own site

  • Suitable for storage, work areas, maintenance and processing

  • Suitable for temporary and long-term use

  • Less dependent on external storage or building a new hall

Who is an industrial shelter suitable for?

An industrial shelter is suitable for companies that want to make better use of their outdoor space. Often, there is still enough space outside, but without shelter it is not practical to use.

We often see this need in:

  • production and manufacturing

  • mechanical engineering

  • maintenance and service

  • logistics and storage

  • construction and project sites

  • shipyards and port areas

Determining the right size and setup

For many customers, the question starts with a general space requirement: “we need extra storage”, “the machine parts need to stay dry” or “we want to be able to work outside”. The next step is translating that need into the right size, setup and installation on containers or concrete.

Important questions include:

  • What do you want to store or do under the shelter?

  • Will the shelter be installed on containers or concrete?

  • What width, length and height do you need?

  • Do vehicles or machines need to drive underneath?

  • Is the solution needed temporarily or long term?

  • Are there technical or HSE requirements?

Kroftman supplies different sizes and versions. Thanks to the modular design, there are many options in width, length, setup and installation. If a standard size does not fit, we think along with you about a suitable configuration or custom solution.

Structure, documentation and permits

An industrial shelter must work in practice, but it also needs to be technically assessable. Kroftman shelters have a supporting structure made of cold-rolled, galvanized S355 structural steel. Depending on the application, you choose a PVC cover or a lighter HDPE cover. Both cover types are suitable for long-term outdoor use and tested for tensile strength and fire behaviour.

You receive the Buildbook free of charge, including technical calculations and drawings. Additional technical specifications, information about wind and snow loads, assembly instructions and cover reports are also available on our website.

Whether you need an environmental permit for an industrial shelter depends on your location, the dimensions, the duration of use and local regulations. Always check this in advance with your municipality or via the official permit portal.

Kroftman’s technical documentation can help with internal assessment, project preparation or a possible permit application.
